Allan
I just scored a set of the fiberglass bumper tops that were being sold on ebay awhile back. I remember that at least 1 or 2 people bought them and I am curious as to how you like them.

BTW, search function sucks. biggrin.gif

wasn't somebody working on a group buy for these?? I'd be very interested in seeing closer photos of the exact fit and more info on how hard they could be bumped before you feel they would break dry.gif

Hello Rob,

Are they easy to mount, i.e. do the studs line up easely in the bumpers?

Is the finish close to the original one, textured?

Do you think they would crack if some jerk backs up while parking?

Thanks

They were very easy to mount, once the bumper was removed, also everything lined up very well...

They are smooth finish, therefore, not exactly like original...

Probably, but if they crack, then the bumper would probably be damaged also...

That picture makes the drivers side front look like it's sticking way out.

Is it?

I thought there was going to be a group buy on these.

What happened to that?

I think they look great. I want a set.

I was trying to organize a group buy, but there were members that bought them from one supplier and they were not happy with the product.

So, I had inquiries from 2 other suppliers, but they have not yet produced a product. I have not followed up on this since.

Does anyone know where you can get these? If so I would like to get a set.

Thanks!

I bought a set and mounted them. The rear seems to fit very well. The front doesn't fit nearly as well and the top edge is very rippled. I believe the ripple if due to a less than perfect fit and very thin layup. The front (at least mine) is going to require quite a bit of trimming where the bumper top meets the front fender. Without trimming this area I currently have about a 3/4" gap between the hood and the bumper top. I think alot of this can be corrected with trimming.

In this pic you can see the bumper top is hitting front of the fenders, but there's a humungous gap between the hood seal and the bumper top.

Not bad for the price though, I picked up both for less than the price of one rubber re-pro.

Got mine via evil-bay for $178.00. I'm not set on the idea of chrome bumpers yet, so for now they'll be fine to get me on the road.

hmmmm, you are supposed to do your research BEFORE you buy them, not after poke.gif biggrin.gif

Right on Mike!

That's why I thought I'd post my results with the front fitment. Before I bought these I posed the question of quality/fit here on the boards and didn't get much response. I think I got one "yeah, they fit great". So I decided to be a guinea pig. Hopefully others can decide from the info in this thread.
