Full Version: Allowable fuel pressure drop?

What's an allowable fuel pressure drop for a d-jet car? Of course zero would be best..

I've got my fuel pressure set at 30 psig with the car NOT running. My temporary pressure gauge is attached to the port, on the fuel rail, that goes to the cold start valve. When the car is idling, pressure reads about 30 psig (a little bouncy on the gauge). If I rev it up to 3000-3500, the pressure drops 2-3 psig.

Is this a problem, or is this normal?

Fuel filter only has probably 1500 miles on it....at most. Tank was cleaned out and that POR-15 fuel tank seal kit was used around the same time.

About normal from what I have heard.

Eric,

I agree with Geoff, with the added note that pressure should hold after the car is turned off for at least 20-30 minutes- dropping down to 15-20 psi or so in that time. If it drops off sooner, than this would indicate a leaking injector or a faulty fuel pressure reg.

Enjoy!

Sounds good. Thanks.
