What gives the bird says 1.8 (93 mm) rings are NLA????

You can get 93mm rings from a local VW shop, and most other suppliers of VW parts online. Rings are rings, the NLA ones are probably original Porsche. Hastings makes good rings to use.

When I checked during the rebuild of Betty's engine, the 1.8L Pistons and cylinders were NLA.
Just get a 2.0 Euro set with rings and put them on the motor.
