Hey guys
I tried to use an easy-out but this broken heat exchanger stud is stuck. Since the head is aluminum and the stud is (?) some hardened metal - will this work? I took the fuel line off and ran the engine until it stopped so hopefully I won't blow myself up in the process
.
what do you think?
thanks

ok
heres what you do
1)grab welder
2)grab nut that fits and/or screws onto stud
3)weld nut to stud
4)get LONG and STRONG wrench
5)Heat stud area up at head, turn wrench
after a few times and possible snapped off stud, you should get it out

Yes, the heat from the weld should do it

I snapped off the easy out today after using the torch method. Next is the welding. wish me luck.

Eeek, broken easy outs are no fun. If nothing else works, take it a machine shop that can use an EDM to get it out. When you're welding, don't arc to the aluminum.
