Hi Folks,

Here is a picture of the engine I'm scraping up cash for. If you have any VW type1 hotrod buddies looking for parts, please show them my parts for sale page:

Yes I'm coming over to the dark side...2.6 type 4 Motec fuel management TMW throttle bodies, Pauter internals etc. I plan to make a new fan shroud from aluminum. I think this will look pretty good in the back seat of my Ghia. Also an easy installation to the 901, has nice exhaust so I won't have to do a bunch more fabrication...besides all the surgery required to fit it all in the Ghia, that is.

Where did you get that engine and how much was it???? That thing will be a beast...I thought my turbo motor would be bad ass...

John, have you considered the Berg 5-speed transmission?

The Berg 5 has some good options: (1) a choice in Berg shifters with 0%, 40%, or 60% reduction in shifter travel, and (2) the "locker option" which locks the car in Reverse when you park it.. cool_shades.gif

I'm going mid-engine, and have a rebuilt 901 from John Walker ...for less than a Berg unit anyway.

Here are the stats as they are presented to me by the seller:

Case: Porsche type4, modified for full flow oil, machined spot

$6000 seems like a real good deal to me, only 1k on the engine...he's upgrading! He has over $12,000 into this one.

I had fantasized about a mid-engine ghia in the past. In my dream - the decklid had been welded shut, and the whole back end flipped up like a 550. . . - but I reckon that the old engine compartment is actually big enough to be made into a trunk for storage. . .

Damn...That is a great price...I think that the Motec M4 is worth close to that alone. Here are the specs of my turbo type-4 conversion for my 912. It is getting there.

Turbo Type-4 Info and Pics.

Displacement: 2353cc

Bore: Aluminum 930 98 mm, Flat-top, Aluminum Cylinders

Stroke: 78 mm stroked, knife-edged, forged, counterweighted crank, dowel-pinned flywheel

Rods: Carillo Rods

Cam: Engle FK-10

Heads: 2.0L Heads, Flycut, 60cc matched, ARP Head Studs, Match Tuned Exhaust Stub Tubes

Valve Train: Titanium Retainers, Racing Dual Springs (0.6" lift), Forged Hardened Valve Keepers

Rockers: Pauter 1:1.48 Aluminum Roller Rockers

Case: Blueprinted, line-bored, modified to breath easier. ARP Case Bolts

Oil: Fitted with Type-1 style sump studs, 2-Qt Deep Sump, custom Billet Sump Plate

Cooling: Sharpbuilt Upright Shroud, 911 11-blade Fan
