The oil seal on the shift lever of my tail shifter tranny is leaking and needs to be changed.

I drained the transmission fluid, removed the shift linkage from the shift lever, removed the lower cover plate on the tranny, and now I need help... WTF.gif Is there any way to remove the lock pin from the shift lever without having to remove the entire transmission rear cover? The Haynes manual says to "drive the locking pin from the shaft, push the shaft out and remove the lever."

Has anyone had success with this before, and if so, how did you do it and with what tools?

Thanks, guys...
