I received it last night. And, I kinda enjoyed it. Wayne's personality and demeanor came across in the message.
I'm surprised it took so long for Pelican to get around to doing this. Besides the editorial content, it would be nice to know what specials that they have going on.

My first thought:
"THIS IS WHAT AA DOES!"
I don't like it.

I don't have too much trouble with this kinda spam...
It's kinda refreshing after all the penis-enlargers and viagra (my wife begs me to stop those, she can't take any more
)
They are either sending it to people who ordered from them before or to their BBS members (or both)
Funny thing about it is that it had no point
Maybe it was just meant as a warning (like: unsubscribe now, or you'll receive loads of spam from us)
cheers,
Jeroen

I received it also, my thought was Wayne just wants to let people know of this
new thing.
I don't have a problem with that, seeing how I'd like to be a business owner someday.

I got it too. Did a double-take looking for the newsletter. Isn't this kind of like your newspaper delivery kid leaving a note on your doorstep saying "hey, just wanted to let you know that you'll be getting a newspaper later today". Pointless.

I don't consider it SPAM if you have ever ordered from them online or have emailed them in the past, you are in thier database (address book)

I didn't get mail from Wayne, but I did get some from Idi Amin Dada, and the first thing I thought:
"THIS IS WHAT AA DOES!!"

I got it too and don't really mind, its took no bandwidth to speak of and has the option to unsubscribe, which I won't. In defense of PP, I always though Wayne was pretty gentle WRT commercializing his BBS. PP (OK, the list members, including Dave and Wayne, and other PP staffers) was a huge help to me, way out of proportion to the profit they got from the stuff I ordered. I'm glad they were there.

I just received a follow up on the initial "spam" from DriveWerks...
I'd rather have them spam me with Porsche stuff though
cheers,
