1440x900 laptop screen and my main LCD (both at home and work) are 1600x1200.
I do prefer not to have my browser windows too big tho - it makes it easier to pretend I'm working if the club board isn't taking up a whole display....

no matter what resolution, you have to run at least 85Hz refresh rate, otherwise you'll be blind in no time ...
by default, windooze sets the refresh rate to 60Hz, which is very bad for your eyes ...

I have a CRT 800/600 36" made by Gateway for use with a PC. It was made when 15" flat panels were 400 dollars. I have had it 5 years via EBAY. Works so good and is great viewing for TV as well. I have a back problem so I have to sit in a special Zero Gravity chair and is set back from the monitor 4 or 5 feet. Helps to have a large screen.

Yeah. Computer moniters have been mucher higher definition than tv's for forever. To use my tv, I have to turn the dpi up to 40 so that text is big enough.
Meanwhile, my ati radeon All-in-wonder dowsn't have a refresh setting of 85. Which is really funny because the tv won't handle 90
Edit: Wow. after some fiddling the tv took 225mhz. Wow.

I tried to go to 85Hz and my screen freaked out, said it was out of range (only goes to 72 unless I override the options)
Even at 70 the characters look terrible.
Brand new (about 20 minutes old) Viewsonic 19" LCD.....I miss my 21" CRT but it's hard to find CRT monitors now
