Guys,
I have a 1973 2.0 that has too much rust to restore. It has a good motor with a cam and carbs. I have an extra windshield, brake repair stuff, tranny bushings, etc. All the panels are pretty good except for the drivers rear quarter panel. It has fuchs, etc.
I refuse to sell this car to someone under the false pretense that it is a fixer upper. This is a parts car with extra great parts. So, should I cut it up with a saw and cart off the carcass, or sell it as a parts car?
My theory is, bail out now and find a complete, straight car. Hell, maybe it is time to get a boxster.

Sell it to me. I will go ahead and offer $500 for it, and I come and pick it up. I have the ability to repair it correctly, as I have a completely solid car that was damaged in a crash, so as long as this one was not in an accident, I want it.

You can sell a lot of stuff by parting it out. Personally, I hate it. It's a huge time commitment so if I were in your situation I'd be selling it as a package.

My 74 2 liter was beyond repair a couple of years ago so I decided to part it out. Yeah, it takes time and effort on your part, but it's a worth while endevor. To date, I've been able to pocket roughly $3,000 by selling parts to other club members, and I still have most of the body and suspension left. I might add that I didn't sell my motor and tranny, they were installed into my 72.

As we are both from GA, I have seen how bad rust is on our old cars, so...
I agree with STL914. Part it out. By doing so, you'll save more 914s than the worth of saving a rust bucket. Plus I can give you a list of stuff i want!!!!

My opinion is: if someone offers to buy it with the honest intention to restore it, the car should not be parted out.
There are enough out there for parts that any example that can be saved should be.
Let`s keep em on the road.

Grasshopper,
you will end up like MikeZ (very few actually liking you..LOL) if you dont stop stabbing these people with lowball offers.
Just stop and think about it. Who on this planet (that has a clue about 914's) would sell you a 2.0 with carbs for $500?
I like the fact that you land smokin deals.. but at least be fair in your offers.
