From James Montebello's parents:

James died this morning at 1:22am (Aug 24). He suffered a massive
brain stem hemorrhage Thursday, August 17. The doctors assured us that
he was not cognitive at any time after the hemorrhage so he did not
suffer. We were with him when he died as was his wife and her father.

We would like to extend our thanks for all the very kind posts. It is
comforting to know how valuable James was to his friends. We plan on
downloading all the posts for future reading. Many of the posts talked
about his free giving of advice and parts. As in life, he continues to
give in death as all organs and tissues that could be used by others
were donated.

He was a kind, generous, brilliant man and he will leave a huge hole in
our hearts.

I am so glad to hear they are getting the posts and are going to download them - I was hoping that they would be able to get them and that they might help with the "healing" from their loss. My thoughts are with his family.

I had an uncle who died a couple years ago suddenly like this. The support of family and friends makes all the difference. It's a really really tough time to go through. I'm glad they can see the good that he did, it will help a lot.

Its easy to forget how much of a difference a generous and compassionate person can make in this world until one is lost.
