Lemme see, eight days ago the ignition craps out. 90 minutes later the car is home.

Today my clutch cable broke. Three hours later and the car is home.

My wife told me I should put AAA's number into my speed dial. dry.gif

At least I have a project for tomorrow... smile.gif

The most important spare part you can carry in a 914 is your extended mileage AAA card. Ask me how I know.

Can you let us know where it broke when you get under it please? With our 1974 we went through 4 cables in less than two weeks as they were the Italian made repros and where the outer cable went into the tube the swage would fail almost immediately causing the cable to quicklt rub through. We are fully only Terry cable users now.

Home Depot carries super-heavy gauge wound wire. Rated to a hundred thousand pounds (slight exageration.) Fab up connectors and BAM! You'll NEVER brake a cable again. We use that on the racers. When we show up to track, we've invested far too much money to have to stop for a broken clutch (or throttle, however unlikely,) cable. When I go to cable shift, that's the cable to use.

914s remind me of that joke about Harleys I used to raz a couple of guys about

Why do Harley T-shirts always have the location listed on them?
So you can remember the last place you broke down.
biggrin.gif

Harley guys hated that joke, but you can't argue wif da troof.

You bet. I haven't pulled it yet as I'm waiting for an opportunity that doesn't involve the father in-law.

You know how crowded it gets with two people trying to squeeze into the drivers side floor. dry.gif
