sold it back to Mom, who is driving it a lot since here other car is a Lincoln Town Car that gets 10 MPG. Ran better than it ever did when I had it when I gave it to her. Put an electronic ignition in, found a vacuum leak that had bedeviled me for a long time too.

Put a new starter in it for her the week after the sale. 3rd starter in about 300,000 miles. is 150,000 miles good for a starter? Sort of funny, did the starter for the 914 just prior to that and it was like 5 times as much, though it was a 911 starter.

I loves me some Karmann Konvertibles

Click to view attachmentHad this ride for a little over 27 years, but it doesn't get used much any more. But, it may go to RRC if the motor in the floor doesn't get installed soon.

My second car was a 1976 Toyoya Celica GT coupe. I absolutely loved this car, first sportscar of any kind I'd driven. Cost me $400 in the summer of 1988. Mine was orange, but the few pictures I took are in storage. I wouldn't mind picking up another one someday... Here's an idea of what it looked like, scrounged from the 'Net.

Oh, there was also an '88 Honda CRX and an '87 VW Golf in the mix that were fine vehicles. I wouldn't mind a nice GTI, I do still like the general body type. But I have to confess, I'm sortof itching to try for a Toyota Prius and do a plug-in electric conversion. The way I figure it, I'd be using the output of my solar panels to power the commute that way. 13-16kW hours/day ought to be able to support 40 miles of commuting per day, right?

Early Cilica Gt was a Japenese Mustang. I had a british mustang: Mercury Capri V-6, 4-spd, Disk Brakes (in front), R& P steering. Solid rear axle & leafs though. A hot little number for it's time.
