High Performance Driving CD-Rom
Has anyone ever tried it?
If so, is it worth $30?
Comments?
Jeroen
I can't say anything specific about this cd-rom, but IMHO, you can't learn this stuff from a book or a video.

Spend the money on seattime and you'll learn more per buck

I've never seen the cd you asked about but I've read two books that I've gotten a lot of usefull info out of: Bob Bondurant, High Performance Driving and Vic Elford, Porsche Driving Hand Book. I also tape a lot of track days and play the tape back before the next date to get my mind in tune to the track. Considering entry fees are usually about $100 to $150 per day, a good book or cd might be worth it if you get some info out of it. But I agree there's no substitute for seat time. It's the only way to learn what the edge of adhesion feels like.

Let me just add another plug for my favorite driving book, "Secrets of Solo Racing", by Henry Watts. Tons of info, very well-written, makes a potentially dry subject a very entertaining read without getting diverted into too many anecdotes. Not much good on passing and such, but describes what happens at an autoX (or time trial) very well, plus talks about the different kinds of corners you'll find and how to approach them and so on.

Well, those are the exact two books I've got (Hank Watts and Vic Elford)
I've started them a couple of times
The only thing I liked was the racing-stories from Elford
I guess these type 'o books just ain't for me...

cheers,

Jeroen
