OK,OK I know the Mallory is the best, but for now the 009 is all I got. Whats the theory on the best timing setting for the 009 with 40 IDFs on a 1.7?

do you know the total advance of an 009?

i like 28/29 degrees of advance in by 3000 rpm....

but if your dizzy has say ~25 degrees of advance built in... your initial advance is (Afinal - Abuiltin) = 29-25 = 4.... which meand you are pretty retarded at idle.....

i like to run 12 degrees at idle (love the mallory for this reason)
as it is snappier off idle...

BTW - carb cam?

time it so you have 27 degrees BTDC at 3500 rpms and don't worry about the idle advance.

Jason: Lindas car got 49MPG with a 009 timed at 27 at 3k. It reaches max add before that anyway.
