i have found a set of stainless heat exchangers for a reasonable price but they are from a 1975 2.0L not a 1973. will these be a fit or shall i continue my search?

Depends if they are the 75-76 style you would have to get all the exhaust parts to make it work. If they are stainless are they the 73-74 style? Probably so, then they should fit with no problems. The two styles are completely different. The early style has two pipes where the muffler bolts up, the later style has only one. Lots of later cars have switched over to the early style because they rotted out, mine included. Here is a pic of the 73-74 HE.
