OK - I was told my brake lights were working "intermittently" - the fact was they were only coming on when I was really into the brake pedal. So, I, in my infinite wisdom decide to make a small adustment. 
Lo and behold, the attached picture tells all.

I don't know how many of you get over there. Oh - that and I am extremely impatient because bad weather is here and I want to be accomplishing things !The bird wants major $$$. I pray
there is a better solution - or used.I have the feeling the metal bracket isn't exactly straight, hence it snapped when tightening. Since I can't get it straight, I'll just "snug" it - and hope I don't repeat the problem.
