I think that is an early MR2.

I wouldn't worry about the baby grand (is that what the mini NASCAR manchines are called?), they've shown to not be up to the challenge in DM.

Don't know about the Toyota, but the hot car for DM is the Lotus Europa. And with John Ames behind the wheel of one at Nationals, there's really only a battle for 2nd....

I'm going for my compitition at the Floride State A/X Championships next month.

And I'm a little sceptical of the MR2... Don't the DM/EM rules require the car to retain the original silloette of the car?

I wouldn't have immediately identified that car as an MR2...

Modified Class D
Modified Production and GT cars with engine displacement 2000cc and under.
Minimum weight - 1300 lbs.

You would be over displacement in D-mod and way underweight in E-mod. I spent some time thinking about what class your car would fit in with the SCCA rules and couldn't come up with one. Next step is a honda S2000 motor in DM sawzall-smiley.gif

I still think the ultimate DM drivetrain is an ArcticCat motor with CVT.

1000cc 2-strock tripple with 200+ hp and CVT so you're ALWAYS on the power band... It's what the winning AM cars are running, so it can't be all bad right? biggrin.gif

Gotta do some serious enginering though to make it work...

Too bad they eliminated that idea two years ago by requiring "automotive" engines...
Drat!! mad.gif

E-Modified calls for 1750lbs with driver (+ 50lbs for a modified tub.) The fiberglass doors do it.

Ouch. blink.gif

Ok you caught me. I'm not legal in DM and the EM Lotus 7 knockoffs will kick my ass.
Maybe I'll just protest the EM cars. Gotta read the rules...

Yep, I'll lose without even running.

Nah.....run A Mod....you'll be the only one there and will be legal.
A local guy built his second A Mod car. It's hella quick.....but it takes some doing to keep up with a car like that. He's an old fart like me and needs a young Kart driver to
get something out of it.....but like me, he just keeps trying. biggrin.gif

All bets are off if a national level A mod car shows up.....you're dog meat, but so is everyone else smile.gif

Come on Paul, I REALLY think I can kick your ass now.

HOw about you and me either run heads up or for PAX in what ever class you find legal.

Damn 2316 and fiberglass. Illegally fast huh..............
Mike T
I always knew you were way underweight for SCCA Emod. I figured you had built for a PCA class. I don't know those rules.

How close are you to 1750 with driver? You could have an ideal situation for lowering your center of gravity with ballast...sorry. Dirty word. dry.gif

I'm still under 1600 pounds with me in it. sad.gif smile.gif

That's a thought.... thumb3d.gif

I need to do some research to see if there are any A-Mods around here.
URY914
I think I can run B Mod. Read this and tell me if you think I can. This is from page 150 of the 2006 SCCA rule book.

18.2 SPORTS RACING CARS
Non-production cars and production-based dune buggies are
referred to as Sports Racing cars and are assigned to B Modified.
EXCEPTION: Production-based cars prepared in excess of the
Modified Production-based Car rules (18.1) are eligible to participate
as Sports Racers when prepared to the appropriate GCR/SRCS.
B
Modified cars must comply to the current year GCR (except as
noted by the SR, including Appendix A) and the competitor must
indicate on his entry form to which set of specifications the vehicle
was prepared. C Modified cars must conform to the current GCR,
except as noted herein and in Appendix A. The competitor must
have the referenced GCR in his possession during the event.

Paul, I got a great idea you trade me you fancy schmancy engine mount bar for my sexy stock one. This will each of us meet wieght.
URY914
I'm going to take a stock bar and zip tie it to my bar. biggrin.gif
EMRoadster
I got this from the SCCA website for the minimum weights for D & E mod.
My EM 914 with a 5.0L V8 (306 cu in) will be 1800 lbs plus 50 lbs for mod tub penalty for a minium weight with driver. Hope my plans work out to close to that weight!
