Is there a way I can check which camshaft is in my motor without splitting the case? Secondly.. do i have to split the case to change the cam?

In theory I think it may be possible, you would have to measure lift at the rockers and find a good way to measure duration of that lift. In practice I don't know if anyone has done it. Hopefully someone can chime in.

Unfortunately you have to split the case to change the cam.
