im 18 just got a 76 914 ran great for awhile and now to get it in R,1st 4th 5th it realy hard to get to go in gear most the time if i go like im going to forth ti will go in to 2nd dont know if its thr tranmissiom probly and if so hard to fix? thanks for help im dont know to much about cars

Try adjusting the clutch. Do you have a Haynes manual? Follow instructions and

check adjustment on linkage. Also check the wear on your linkage bushings.

After you check those let us know.

The Haynes manual steps you thru adjusting the linkage, pretty simple job.

Try that 1st...you'll want to inspect all of the linkage, the bushings wear out and the 2 cone-set screws back out if not installed correctly by the previous owner...
