Some idiot slid into my car while in traffic. I was moving along with the rest of the crowd when this kid was going a lot faster than the rest of us. He saw the long line of cars braking, locked up his brakes, and slid 20 feet into my rear deck lid. The road was damp from a dewy kind of morning. He had a lifted truck with one of the bars in the front and it tore up my deck lid. Only the deck lid was damaged but the body shop doing the repair doesn't have a price on a new deck lid. You guys have any idea what a stock steel one would of costed? I tried googling but only found fiberglass. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Buy it locally, private and you should be able to get it for $ 50 - $ 100.
Will, of course, require prep and paint ...

Right. IF they get a new lid for their money. I dunno about other states, but in CA if they pay for new parts, they get new parts. There's a special section of the Bureau of Automotive Repair that makes sure that's what happens. If YOU were paying, isn't that what you'd want? The Cap'n

There is actually two prices for a new one. The other is $652.88. Both prices are from aftermarket vendors. Not sure what it woud cost from a Porsche dealer.
