I'm hosting a BBQ and asking for help on November 12th.
I'd like to accomplish the following:
1) Drop the engine/tranny, remove and replace oil pump and front seal (behind the fan).
2) Remove and Replace Rear calipers and change pads on front (BMW 318i) calipers.
3) Replace Brake Proportioning Valve with a T Valve.
4) Bleed brake system.
5) Reinstall Engine.
6) Test out new BBQ Grill.
If time allows, a short "test" run down Santa Susana Pass and Box Canyon.
Location: Simi Valley (address to be posted)
Any volunteers?

Well, ok .... it won't matter anyway. Being as old as I am:
1.) My eyesight is failing. The vision of scantily clad babes with wrenches would probably escape me anyway.
2.) My hearing is failing. If an indecent proposal was made I wouldn't hear it anyway and would probably respond with
3.) Being arrested for "assault with a dead weapon" wouldn't look good on my record.
4.) Child Molestation would look even worse.
I guess I'll stick to Hallmark Channel and grease.

Progress Report:
First of all, a big thanks to BJ (CrazyHippy) for all his hard work. We were successful dropping the engine. We removed the engine tin and fan shroud and we noticed some oil appeared to be coming from the front seal. We found some oil coming from the oil cooler so we replaced it with another oil cooler and new gaskets. While we were in there, we decided to replace the oil filter gasket. We also replaced the oil pump gasket and put everything back in place. Found a couple of interesting "surprises" while taking the engine apart.
For now, since the engine is out, we also replaced the passenger's side valve cover gasket. It was far from new, but not sure if it was also a source of leakage.
We had a couple of nice double burgers and then back to work. Put most of the engine back together.
The bad news is we didn't get done. I've got quite a bit of work to do still. While the engine is out, some more degreasing and ordering gaskets for the CV Joints. It also looks like I need new motor mounts.
Hopefully some time during the week I'll get a chance to get things back together.
Once again, a big thanks to BJ.
