Hi,

I have vertical play in my steering column, so I bought one of the steering column
sleeves. I stripped the column down and it seems like the shim is too small. It
exaclty matches the size of the column itself, but the play appears to be in the
outer edge of the bearing. Can the sleeve be stretched to go over that? I don't
want to destroy anything in the process of "fixing" it! smash.gif Is there another, semi-
permanent way to fix it?

Thanks,

Jeff

I have the same problem. When I took it in for an easy fix, I found out the 1970 has bearings, not a sleeve. Way more difficult to repair. If yours is an early car that may be the problem.

Guess I need an alternative plan then! I may pull the whole shart tomorrow
and see what I can do with it. I've already got things torn down farther than I 'd
intended.

Thanks,

Jeff
