ok, the code hasn't changed and it should work right, but:
the apache server dos not SET any cookies.
it does, however READ old cookies that are still present in the cache.
WTF????

Andy,
I seem to have all the problems.
I'm also not getting email notices of replys to my posts.
I want to say thanks for all your work on the board.

Hey Andy,
We had these very same issues in the early days...
I just browsed through some old (and incomplete) e-mail conversations I had with Brad
The answer was in the PHP session ID settings

Hmm...you can read a cookie, but can't set a cookie.
Did you try this?
System.setProperty("apache.commons.httpclient.cookiespec", "COMPATIBILITY");

Either Andy has been tampering with settings, or something buggy has been going on in the last couple hours.. I had to login, and login, and login... and it would take me from the login page, to the login page.
Whew..
I am going to bite the bullet, and logout to see what happens.

Well buddy, I just closed it, and had to login again.
It's better than the loop though.
Hey, relax.. the answer will come where, and when you don't expect it, in the next couple days..
Don't chase the problem, waste of your time.
Thanks for everything Sir Andy, you are a good one.

Okay, now my cookies aren't working. I had the old cookie still saved and I haven't cleaned/purged my internet explorer stuff and now I need to login each time... Mother F----!
Anyways,
I googled "Apache set cookies" and came up with some stuff. I don't understand it, but perhaps the answer lies in some of the hits..
http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/httpclie...nt/cookies.htmlTHis is just one.. there are pages of links that come up.
Wish I could help more!
If you get frustrade, just watch piegirl (my avatar) for a while!
Andy,
I'm running rhat 7.3, mozilla 1.03 (i think)
The only change in behavior I'm seeing is in what is marked as "read" (an that may not be directly involved -- with the exception of a couple of check in's, I've largely been off line for the last couple of weeks.
On of the differences twixt here an Pelican has always been where the tracking of "read" occurs. I'm not using the right verbage, but I'll describe it. Here, when I returned from reading a thread, it was marked as read, but the rest was unchanged. Even if I checked out and checked back, the tracking was based on what I actually read. At pelican, it doesn't matter what I've read. It's based on when I check in and out of the main site. We've now apparently moved to the Pelican model.
Does this dovetail with what you believe happened with the switch?
kim.
