Hi fellas,

I'm hoping someone knows a reasonably priced parts house in Tampa. World-Pac distributor, or maybe a BMW parts specialist?

I just got back from a few hours on the side of 275, after my GF's 325is decided to crap out. Rental car is going to be $30-50 a day, so I'd rather go local than mail order. At least I know where the Harbor Freight is...this is gonna get spendy.

Thanks!

I'm in Tampa, but I'm not much on BMW parts. If you need a place to work on it bring it over to my house. Just don't pull the engine using a rope on the tree in the front yard. What is the problem?

One of my best friend's works part-time on Davis Islands (downtown Tampa) all they work on is BMWs and Mercedes, and he also works out of his house on side work as he is also a fireman. Give me a call on my cell# 505-5718 if you want me to put you in touch with him.

p.s. he also owns a 914-6

BTW, I live in Northeast Tampa, east of USF off of Fowler.

Thanks for the offers guys. I'm actually pretty close to you, Paul, as the GF lives in Sulphur Springs. I think I'm just going to leave it where it sits for right now though, shouldn't be a terrible job in the driveway.

I was driving it earlier, when the CEL came on. Was pulling it over, when there was a pop and a good bit of smoke. Turns out the radiator outlet blew. I'm guessing that the waterpump went, and led to a pressure buildup which then popped the radiator. Either that or the thermostat is stuck closed. I'm crossing my fingers that it didn't take the headgasket.

Adam, I talked to my friend (J.Bader) and he's leaving for vacation tomorrow. He said the radiators have a plastic neck that will break under a large pressure buildup. If you need help, call Ed at ProStar on Davis Island @ 813-785-7134 and tell him that J.Bader and T.C. told you about his shop. Like I said all they work on is Bimmers & Mercedes

T.C.

p.s. I'm in Forest Hills if you need some tools

A friend of mine had a early 90s 5 series that his daughter blew the radiator on and asked me to take a look. Once I looked at it in his driveway I determined that with some simple tools he could pull the radiator, and replace the water pump right there. Pep boys had the radiator. The only thing I remember is that there were about 3 or 4 different water pumps at least for that model. But he's not a regular gear head and was able to do it himself.

I'm in Tampa, so if you need further help just pm me.

Hmmmmm....after reading that again...let me clarify. "She" didn't "blow" the radiator. blink.gif The car had a pin hole in a hose that cause the beast to overheat....
