Yeah, it's off topic. No, don't care. Delete the post if you like.

What it means .... Thanksgiving.

Used to mean zero to me, when I was a punk. Now, though, it means that I can be what I want, do what I want to.

I live in the greatest country in the world - the one that gave advantages to me when I worked for them & became good at what I did.

I have hundreds of thousands of military heroes who ar trying to keep it that way for me. That's the premier reason for my thankfullness. These guys & gals risk thier lives daily for me, on a VOLUNTARY basis. THEY ARE heros!

I've been able to be what I wanted in this country.....All I had to do was work for it. No one gave me a break (my parent struggled) - I made my own & I did OK.

Hard work, dilligence & a plan! Worked for me & I'm well set. No scams, just hard work.

Now - where else can you do this? I can think of half a dozen other countries, but the taxes are much higher.

So, I'm thankful for those who started this wonderful country. I'm more thankful to my parents, who instilled a work ethic in me. I'm also thankful that my 93 year old mother can still drink me under the table with Vodka martinis - she's not going anywhere for a long time.

Thankful for my buddies here at the "currently" non-club. Too many of that I wish I could meet face-to-face, but still happy to have you.

Thankful for the Porsche friends who have gone on & taught me so much of what I know (& tht ain't much). Wish I could have all of them back!

Happy Thanksgiving to ALL of you! And, I mean that sincerely!
Pat G.

I'm not sure of the official meaning of Thanksgiving, but I think it has something to do with the beginning of the genocide of the American Indians.

Let's celebrate!

Happy Thanksgiving.

Turkey day is just another day to me - only today I can drink all day without remorse AND watch much football!!!

On another note - BK911 is right, unfortunately. Was reminded of such when my little girl was doing homework the other day, which this is what it was all about -

Obscure maybe - but by this holiday I do believe everybody wants to put the past behind and move on- beerchug.gif

I'd be more thankful if I weren't at work right this second.

That aside... I'm always thankful for my friends and family, my girlfriend and this club which has helped me and allowed me to help others time and time again smile.gif

What a jackass comment. Not everyone who came to this country came to kick Native American ass. If every settler wanted to commit genocide, then why were so many missions built? They should have just shot them all. There were many missionaries and many good settlers who had nothing to do with the broken treaties of this government. Don't paint with a broad brush.

Everyday is a thanks giving day to me and one day of thankfullness just dosen't seem to cut it for the year.

That said, historycally and originally, I think Thanks Giving mean that we were thankful for the indians who gave us free turkeys, that elusive and inteligent bird, for the meal to which we replied," Welst, were donest hither, now we given you reds a ten count to get the hell off our lands! Postest haste!" ar15.gif Needless to say, we killed our last indian about 100 years ago and celebrated thanks giving/taking during that time in our history:wacko:

Picture this... What if we do discover extra-terrestrial life, and they come to visit us.

You know, the whole flying saucers bit and everything.

The door on the ship opens, and out steps...

100-ft tall native-american indians.

Ah crap. Good try america, good try. piratenanner.gif
JPB
Not that I have a single thing against devide and conquer but what goes around comes around and this spaceship door you are refering to is here and open today and it's called the Reo Grande. They are not latinoes but ancient central american indians which are second class citizens in their own country due to corruption and the likes of such within their own cultures.

I now will sanitize the past obsevation which can be viewed by some to be racist and ram rod this statement which I hope happens soon:

Homoganise the nations!!! I'm in for an Asian or Scandinavian please. biggrin.gif

The missions were built by SLAVE LABOR.

Happy Thanksgiving.

My original post was intended to give thanks for the opportunities we have in contemporary America.

As some of you may know (or not), I am an opinionated bastard (figure of speach). My comments meant that we HAVE a lot to be thankful for - we meaning those of us in contemporary America.

I, nor any of my lineage, had anything to do with the so-called "genocide" of the American Indians. My family members did not rush Jews into the ovens in Germany. My family members did not have anything to do with the conquests of the Roman Empire, the Crusades, Slavery in this country, etc.

My comments were made for contemporay times. No, I don't care for the many other things that happened in history, but it's just that - history. I will NOT be held captive for the actions of people hundreds of years before my birth! I will NOT be responsible for reparations to people who've been harmed in past history. OK, give them another tax-free casino? Absurd!

Here's what I meant (you could TRY reading it again). I'm thankful for the opportunities and priviledges of America. I took every advantage of them & will continue to do so. It's called Free Enterprise/Capitalism.

If you can't take my thanks to American opportunities and our people in uniform, helping to keep us free, then to hell with you. I fought for my country - what did you do?

My message was plain & simple thanks. For you to turn it into something else REALLY pisses me off!

Sorry to the rest - this should have never had to happen on this Forum. It wasn't meant to OT, but I have red/white/blue running through my veins, though I am partial to german sports cars.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody....

I have a lot to be thankful and every day (not just this one) I try to do my best not to forget it.

Everyday I am grateful for all I have been given. I take none of it for granted. No more today than any other.

Like Christmas, I carry this spirit of thanksgiving with me all the days I remain alive. As more and more of the people I love leave this life I become more and more grateful for everyday I am given, the gift of this day.

I'm watching this thing on the history channel...like someone stated above Abe Lincoln declared thanksgiving a national holiday in 1863.

How do you take the above post, which was obviously meant to show Pat's graditude for the opportunities he has been givem, and the work ethics he was raised with and turn it into some stupid ass statement like that? If you don't agree fine, but what enjoyment do you get from your comment? I will assume you had a few to many beers, at this was an attempt at humor.

I am thankful for many of the same things Pat. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Be safe...

Yea, that was a jackass comment. I didn't mean to pee in anyone's cheerios. But I believe the title to this post was "Thanksgiving, the true meaning." I just think it's sad that most people celebrate holidays which they have no idea what they are about. But don't get me wrong, I'll be one of the first to celebrate a 4 day weekend.

thanks BK (for not reacting).

Igot plenty of room for opinions that differ from my own, but no matter what side a person is on, derisive adjectives "like: stupid" and name calling just detract from the credibility of the poster.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my new American friends!
(We "Canadians" were thankful last month)...
I'll really be thankful if I can find a reasonably priced 914 near here that is not a rot box.
I'll be really really thankful again March 17th! ...Cheers!
I was thankful last night as I scored the game winner...
I was thankful this morning when I made my kids their breakfast...
I will be thankful at 5 o'clock today (friday)...
Okay, I'm thankful everyday...for a lot of little things...Kinda makes it all worthwhile...eh.
