Need help....

Tht song from the 70's.... starts slow, ends up a little heavier, but not much.

It's "kinda" like a tribute to roadies.... You know, after the band has left, there still there loading amps and guitars, etc.

I have no idea who it's by..... nor what the name of the song is.

Its a beautiful song... I've loved it since i was a kid...... I want to download/buy it, but I have no idea what to search for.

Can anyone help??

Nope..... thats not the one. Much much slower... It's actually almost a "sad" song....

The song I think is actually a "dedication" to roadies....

That was my choice too. Do you know any of the lyrics to it?
SLITS
Bob Seger - "Turn The Page"

On a long and lonesome highway, east of omaha.
You can listen to the engine moaning out its one lone song
You can think about woman, or the girl you knew the night before,
But your thoughts will soon be wandering, the way they always do.
When your riding sixteen hours and theres nothing much to do
And you dont feel much like riding, you just wish the trip was through.
Say, here I am, on the road again. there I am, up on the stage.
Here I go, playing star again.
There I go, turn the page.
Well you walk into a restaurant, strung out from the road,
You can feel the eyes upon you as your shaking off the cold
You pretend it doesnt bother you, but you just want to explode.
Most times you cant hear em talk, other times you can.
Oh the same old cliche, as that woman on her a man
You always see my number, you dont dare make a stand.
Here I am, on the road again. there I am, up on the stage.
Here I go, playing star again.
There I go, turn the page.
Out there in the spotlight your a million miles away,
Every ounce of energy, you try and give away,
As the sweat pours out your body like the music that you play.
Later in the evening as you lie awake in bed,
With the echo from the amplifiers ringing in your head,
You smoke the days last cigarette, remembering what she said.
Now here I am, on the road again. there I am, up on the stage.
Here I go, playing star again.
There I go, turn the page.
Here I am, on the road again. there I am, up on the stage.
Ah here I go, playing star again.
There I go, there I go.

Gosh... I just heard it on the radio the other day.... its a LOOOOOONNNNNGGGG song...... the intro is probably 3 minutes just by itself.... he's talking about how the roadies are still packing up the gear long after the band leaves... no respect for the roadies... I don't know exactly.

It has a very "steppenwolf, REO Speedwagon, BTO, 70's" kinda feel to it.

Its driving me nuts,... I've been trying to google something for the past 2 hours, and I can't get any hits on it.
ninefourteener
Very cool tune.... but thats not it (turn the page). I would have known that one...

Someon's gonna know... in the meantime, I'm still googling--LOL

I FOUND IT!!!!!!

It is Jackson Browne....

The name of the song is "The load-out" If you haven't heard it..... it's an incredible song...

Thanks everyone!!!!

Here's the lrics... you might recognize it.....

Now the seats are all empty
Let the roadies take the stage
Pack it up and tear it down
They're the first to come and the last to leave
Working for that minimum wage
They'll set it up in another town

/ G - - - / C D Em - / C D G C G D / :

Tonight the people were so fine, they waited there in line
And when they got up on their feet, they made the show
And that was sweet, but I can hear the sound
Of slamming doors and folding chairs
And that's a sound they'll never know

/ Em - D - C - Em - / G - Em D C - - - / as above /

Now, roll them cases out and lift them amps
Haul them trusses down and get 'em up them ramps
'Cause when it comes to moving me
You know you guys are the champs
But when that last guitar's been packed away
You know that I still want to play
So just make sure you've got it all set to go
Before you come for my piano

/ G - C - / / G - - - / C - D - /
/ G - - - / C D Em - / C - - - / D - - - /

But the band's on the bus
And they're waiting to go
We've got to drive all night and do a show in Chicago
Or Detroit, I don't know
We do so many shows in a row
And these towns all look the same
We just pass the time in our hotel rooms
And wander 'round backstage
Till those lights come up and we hear that crowd
And we remember why we came

/ Em - D - / C - Em - / G - Em D C - - - / G - - - /
/ C D Em - / C D G C G D / G - - - /
/ C D Em - / C - - - / D - - - /

Now we got country and western on the bus, R & B
We got disco on eight tracks and cassettes in stereo
We've got rural scenes and magazines
We got truckers on CB
We got Richard Pryor on the video
And we got time to think of the ones we love
While the miles roll away
But the only time that seems too short
Is the time that we get to play

/ G - - - Em - - - / C - - - G - - D / G - - - / Em - - - /
/ C D G C G D / G - - - / Em - - - / C - - - / D - - - /

People you've got the power over what we do
You can sit there and wait or you can pull us through
Come along, sing the song
You know that you can't go wrong
'Cause when that morning sun comes beating down
You're going to wake up in your town
But we'll be scheduled to appear
A thousand miles away from here

/ G - C - / / G - - - / C D Em - /
/ G - - - / Em - - - / C - - - / D - - - /

People, stay just a little bit longer
We wanna play just a little bit longer
If the promoter don't mind and the union don't mind
We can take a little time and we'll leave this all behind
Singin' one more song

/ G - C D G - C D / / / G - C D / Em - - - /

Oh, won't you stay just a little bit longer
Please, please, please, say you will, say you will

/ G - C D G - C D / G - C D Em - - - /

Oh, won't you stay just a little bit longer
Oh, please, please stay just a little bit more, ehehe
Now if the promoter don't mind and the roadies don't mind
We can take a little time and we'll leave it all behind
Singin' one more song

You were basically right. "The Load Out" goes into "Stay" by Maurice Williams.

Its called "The Load Out/Stay"
jsteele22

Aw, man ! When I saw the topic, I thought you were gonna tell us who was murdered in the studio when they were taping "Love Rollercoaster"....

Lou W
Okay....I thought "the Load" was a longer version of "stay" huh.gif
