How important is Fathers day? What if you weren't with your family on that day?

It's the only day of the year where father's are recognized nationally on the same day

I'd say it is a pretty important day

My Dad is in heaven so he is always with me on Father's day or not

That could be a tough weekend for an event. You see, I could go no problem. In fact, my wife would think it would be a cool gift. However, she couldn't come with me because she would need to be here with her dad.

my dad always tells me to make a much bigger deal about mother's day..which is more reason for me to make father's day a big deal too

Well, considering that a club event might be just what a dad wants for father's day, it doesn't sound so bad. Dads may just have family in tow for the event, is all.

Incidentally, mother's day is recognized (AFAIK) worldwide. Father's day isn't the same. Chinese father's day is August 8th every year.

Most Fathers are very special and contribute alot to who we are. No matter

how much we screw up they love us. They would give there lives for us, and

some have. They lift us when were down and praise us when we are up. When

400 miles away) IMHO every other day is Fathers day and the others belong to

Hallmark holiday. Same with mothers day, valentines day, boss' day, secretary's day, etc. You can honor these people whenever you want, no calendar is going to boss me around.

Hallmark holiday that holds little significance to me. I certainly do spend time with my father on father's day but I don't go out spending money just because the calender/TV commercial/magazine ad tells me I should.

I show respect, love and appreciation for my father in my own different and (in my opinion) much better and more meaningful ways.

Its only important to those who have one.

I wouldn't deprive my kids. They look forward to this almost as much as I do. IMO it's the best day of the year.
