This'll be short, because I've attempted to post and it keeps nuking me when I submit.

Third item from the left does not seem to fit in this equation, but I've kept them together since disassembly. Where does it go?
Qarl
Y=x^2+1x-7
swood
that's not helping Qarl! headbang.gif
J P Stein
Ah......between the 2nd & 4th. I love a good mystery laugh.gif
J P Stein
Are you trying to post a pic, Steve?
Qarl
We'd llike to provide real help, but we don't know what you're talking about.

Try making sure your pics are around 800x600 or 640x480. Make sure it is a .jpg or a .gif

File size should be less than 300k (or there abouts)
swood
Yes JP. It'll turn out to be real stupid though. I'm putting my oil seal, impeller hub, locking plate, washer and bolt together and I have an "extra" part that I can't figure out where to put. It's a circular tube if you will that's about 7/8" in diam and 5/16" long, split longitudinaly. Just doesn't seem to fit in there.

I'll try posting again. Very frustrating, it's just a 150kb image...
J P Stein
....and when you are ready, hit "add reply" NOT "preview post"
swood
again. Just don't tell me it goes on the inside of the case!!!
J P Stein
Sorry, I dunno dick bout 4poopers....cept they sound like tractors laugh.gif

HAY, we need a t-4 wonk in here!!
swood
Bummer. Any other takers? I don't want to cross post.

THis is for the '75 1911

Ummm... that thing goes in the other end of the crankshaft. chair.gif

It's a spacer to hold the pilot bearing out in the flywheel.
swood
headbang.gif headbang.gif are you kidding me? I'lllook it up then.
Mark Henry
It's no shit, Sherlock! smile.gif
swood
Uhh...I guess your attempting humor? huh.gif

I just dont see it diagramed clearly anywhere. It looks though like it may go in the fly end of the crank under the #1 Main? Am I getting warm?
SirAndy
oh boy, don't you hate it when that happens???

can't help you with that part tho ...
Andy
Brad Roberts
Relax. It goes in the end of the crank. You can install it at any time BEFORE the flywheel goes on.

swood
Ahh..B...The voice of reason. THanks dude.

I get to pull the fly off again though. Practice makes perfect right?
Brad Roberts
Most machine shops dont pull them out.. I'm surprised you have it in hand.

Hopefully you didnt torque down the flywheel.

B
swood
why? i did. Just didn't know I was missing something.
Brad Roberts
It's not real good to reuse the lock plate after torquing the flywheel bolts down to it. I should'NT say this in public... but flip it over when you go back together.

B
swood
now that i think about it, I was wondering what kept the pilot bearing from moving around. Now I know.
Brad Roberts
Did you also install the felt washer when you installed the lock plate ??

T’was a lame attempt at humour. wink.gif

Why doesn’t anyone believe me, I only build/machine engines for a living. confused24.gif

A lot of good machinists take every little thing apart, it's the only way to clean things 100%.
