Can't find anything on google so I'm asking youz guyz. Is there a rebuild kit for the Unilite? I have one that was part of a VW parts purchase, looks a little rough but definitely rebuildable for a D.D. or toy. My biggest issue is the wiring was cut just outside of the housing. I could solder on some new pieces but is there any point? Could the trigger be damaged by the heat generated with the soldering iron?

Go online to Mr Gasket.com, click on the Mallory icon and ask Mallory. I did this with a Jacobs Ignition and they handled it fairly well. Just slow. I hear the Mallory has lots of optical problems due to heat.

Go MSD ph34r.gif

Kewl. thanks for the infp. I just checked it out and they're closed until the 2nd, so I won't know until next week. I'll post the response here for anyone who may be interested. I saw a lot of "tune up" kits but nothing I would consider a rebuild kit confused24.gif Time will tell....tick.. tock.. tick.. tock..previously on 24 huh.gif

Scotty,

When you talk to them ask if there is a heat problem with the dizzy, and is there a prevention. Be nice to know how they answer that.

I'm about to buy a MSD because the guy building my engine says he replaces Unilites with MSD all the time. brain.gif Something to do with heat I think. I had a Unilite I bought from ACT all curved and such but I sold it when I knew I wasn't gunna do carbs. Come to find out latter it can be used with aftermarket FI.

This big block race engine builder is doing my engine probono. Kinda blink.gif Its as scary as it is fun. This guy is studying my engine and seems to know what to do. LOL

it's a very basic circuit, about $5 in parts....I've opened up my fried part and just need to figure out what went "poof", should be easy to figure out once I get a-round-tuit wink.gif

I know Jake loves the Mallory and I think he has mentioned the only failures he has had was due to voltage spikes....Mallory sells a $30 or so device to protect from such things (I have one installed on mine, but it won;t prevent hooking up the + and - incorrectly blink.gif )

i accidently lost the POS batt terminal mid drive... so the current coming out of the alternator didnt go into the battery... it went into all the wires that were hooked up to that terminal..... gee... into the dizzy

(yes mine is wired differently do to a CDI box based ignition.)
