I sign on and see that I'm selling 32 Shure SM57 microphones! ohmy.gif

I immediately change the password, the email address, my paypal password, my email password, etc...

Damn, now I'm nervous!!!!

I felt good about it before.

Ebay got the message I sent and cancelled all of the auctions and credited the fees, but damn! headbang.gif

You are in for a ride... It happened to Betty and I. We have NEVER sold anything on Ebay, just purchased stuff. When we found out about it, there were listings for multiple Chinese knockoff designer purses. They were cancelled, but it made me miss out on a set of 73 911 S cams that I wanted mad.gif Now, every month, we get a nastygram from Ebay telling us that we have to pay our "sellers fees" or they will turn off the account. We have called every month for 3 months. headbang.gif Jan will be 4 months. Hopefully they got the message.

Just remember to keep an eye on your account for a while.

mine got rippped too. Ebay caught it within hours and notified me. The account was quarenteened until I could verify that I was who I said I was. Then I went in and changed passwords and such.

I lost out on some stuff that I was bidding on. My account was a decade old, so I guess it was just my turn. I never respond to email from "ebay," I always log into ebay to check messages. Not sure how they got my account, but they did.

My account was hijacked as well, however since I had just moved I was not sure which address/phone number etc was on the account and I had to do a live chat with an ebay person to get it fixed.

How do you guys think you are getting hacked, if you know.

Through email, fake links or some other way.

Would be good info to know for the rest of us.

Hey, a new thing to be worried about ! I get a constant stream of fake email "from" ebay and paypal (URLs in the email are always fake) warning of dire problems with my account, and I have a spam filter set up just for them. So I'd have no way of knowing if there really were a problem. But since I've already been scammed (an $800 engine, never arrived) maybe it's not my turn...

Never respond to an email. I always go directly to the site if I think its true. I dont care if the email is fake or real. I always goto the site, even with this site. If someone sends me a pm I goto the site I dont click on the link in the email.

I never read the emails from ebay, paypal and all of those banks who have problems with my account.

I think someone did a good job with the password - ebay should lock the account when you have X number of failed login attempts.

Once they logged in, they changed the email address then listed 32 phony auctions with directions to email them at a Chinese web address. Then they put the email back to what it should be.

I guess I should be happy that they didn't just lock me out confused24.gif

the ones I hate are when someone is watching and finds out you won something and sends you a fake paypal email asking to pay for it, i was about 2 seconds from going through with it before it i finally saw the site address and something didnt click. I went back to the email and if you leave your cursor over any link, it will display the link address and thats a dead give away to if its real. even if it looks real, i still go to the sire directly and make sure.
