I have decided to put pins in my front hood and install a gas door so I dont have to remove the whole hood everytime I get gas. I have seen some that looked cool or as cool as possible but I am having trouble finding any or where to buy them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, I am also looking for a pin set to use, I think I need at least 4 pins to hold it down, maybe 6 if I need to. The hood is fiberglass and no matter how I try, I cannot get it to sit right with the hinges installed. Show me some pictures of what you have seen and where do I get them? Thanks everyone.

I'd try to adjust the hinges and stock latch as 4 pins will be a hassle on a street car. There are two bolts on the hinge to body that are adjustable. If necessary you can shim the hinge to hood. Plus most pins will leak and you'll be mounting the pins inside the seal channel...

If the fiberglass doesn't fit well to begin with, the pins won't make much difference. My Rennspeed had alot of body work done to look right but they were one of the few who made a headlight delete hood I wanted.

i havent talked to martin baker in a few weeks, but he used to make the caps and filler necks ala GT style

I have the Mustang, Ford 150 size door in my hood, anything smaller would be hard to get your hand into to remove the cap. The GT style is the way to go for the original look, i've installed mine so I can got that route if i choose to at a later date.
the flush mount is the look i am happy with right now.

That looks race neat. How did you line up the fuel neck and cap of the 914 tank?

That is what I wanted to hear and see. A door is one thing but having it actually work for me is another. Thanks for the info on the door. Now if I can just hear from Joe (Series9) on how he did his CF hood pins and get some pics of it, I can get a little direction on what to do next.

This is all for the Chalon, I want to get it done this year if I can just get things sorted out a little more. Work has been keeping me busy and having today off got me thinking it was time to move forward on the car or sell it. Since I have so much into it and it really is not very far from being done, I decided to start working on it again and get it done.

If you look at the back edge of the webbing on the front hood there is a notch sort of. if you can get something on top of the center of the gas cap that will leave a mark on the inside of the hood when its closed is the easiest. I carefully measured everything all the way around till i was comfortable cutting, a 6" hole saw for about 30 bucks or, I used a steel cutting bit on my spiro saw(Dremil type tool) with a circle cutter attachment but it got tricky the last 1/2 inch of the cut.

Kerry (I forget his username but he is the guy that orged the ECC this past year) has a door on his lime green 916 clone. It looks pretty cool. Cool enough that I am thinking about doing the same to my car. He said that he got his fuel door on eBay, but I think its the same door that I have seen at my local Autozone. His is not flush mounted, and installing as a surface mount makes the install way easier.

He also has hood pins. I _think_ that he said he made the pins, but it may have been someone else here. Some one here was saying that making the hood pins was dead simple.

I saw one a several years ago that was body color and very nicely done. Asked the guy about it and he said in was from a 928, kept it in the family I guess. Sorry no pics but it look like it belonged there and not like an add on.

On surface mount installation the fuel doors are flat the hood is not so a rubber gasket of some sort would help, also if mounting one on the surface of the hood a good bump to the door when it's open could possibly make a dent. This was the main reason I recessed mine.
