Aluminum turbo valve covers on the 914-6, the lower ones need to be machined slightly in order to get them off of the heads when the engine is installed in the car. This was on the Pelican site. Do you know where they need to be machined? Is there some one that sells a set pre machined or is it not a big deal to do?

Thanks,

The safest bet is to install the engine without the turbo valve covers on, then deck the top of the turbo covers until you can get them to clear the suspension ear. A large belt sander works well. I've heard of some folks sending them off to a machine shop, but there is no reason the top needs to be within 0.0001 tolerance.

You could just use stock valve covers while installing the motor, or use some aluminum foil formed over the pertinent areas to keep it clean during installation.

You have to remove the fins on the back 1/3 of the cover. Otherwise it hits the control arm mount when trying to remove them.
