Don't know the specs on it, but an interesting design nonetheless.

Interesting! This is the next upgrade for the 76 914s in California.

Add a little propane to that thing and you could have some fun pulling stumps in your 914! idea.gif

It will be interesting to see if it will be reliable.
RS22b
yeah, i've been hearing about this for like the last 5 years or so.

Glad they finally were able to get it finished. Now of course that this is done, they will be working on their "energy" motor

sucky for teener trannies....

where can you get tall gears for all 5 gears? custom r/p?
Crazyhippy
The TQ will be a killer... 930? Mendeola? Many more gear ratios available if you end up that route, and w/ enough $$$$ can do sequential shifting.
Brando
I was thinking Bio-Diesel conversion time...

That would rock with a 930 trans and super-tall gearing.

Screw that! Use the transmission that already comes bolted to the motor!! If it's only AWD, block off the rear output. The trans ought to be geared nicely for the motor, and should last when hooked up to it. You'll have to do a bunch of Adaptor Majik ™ with the driveshafts and all, but that should be pretty doable...

I want one!!!!!!!!!!! Engine and trans.
50-60 MPG - fast and smog exempt. What more could you want. If all is well it will bolt into my Suby-swap.
Steve.

Uhmbut, won't there be 5 reverse and 1 forward gear in a mid-engine configuration?

Nope! That's one of the nice things about it.

The Scoob has a longitudinal engine, with the transmission just aft of the engine. The 914 has a longitudinal engine, with the transmission just aft of the engine. You're simply moving the whole thing from the front of the car to the middle! smile.gif

If you turned it around front to back, you'd have a problem.
