* Bring together 914 owners, 914 resources and anyone interested in the 914
* Celebrate and promote the 914 Porsche and all its great features
* Display the 914 in all its varied forms

Nice work. Do we post idea's in this thread as well as in the induvidual topics? Or are you just reserving this as a master list?

Post your ideas and comments and we'll discuss...and come to a consensus, then I will edit the first post to reflect the decisions.

On the original thread we had some discussion about this event being more than 2 days long. Some people who might be comming from a greater distance find it hard to justify the trip/expenses/etc. for what would essentially be a Saturday autocross/photo/dinner.

* Most Auto-x's I have ever done start early in the morning. It does not need to be an all day event, but I do want more than 3 runs.
* I would guess that the photo shoot would take 2+ hours to get everyone staged.
* There was some earlier talk about a hill climb. Any chance of that happening? Steve@ottos, are you on it?
* The events earlier in the week could be more low key. Just some options for people to do if the want to spend more time with their teener friends.

Feel free to pick it apart. I am mostly just thinking out loud.
Wed. - Early arrivals. Registration opens. lunch wherever. Group Tour to ??? Dinner together at ???
Thurs - Breakfast on your own. Lunch at James Dean crash site. Wine Tour. Rhodguy mentioned a friend with a vineyard. Dinner there?
Fri. - Breakfast, registration, yadda-yadda-yadda. Hill climb event in the afternoon. Vendors area opens. Group dinner with more arrivals.
Sat. - (the busy day) Bowlsby's itinerary looks good. Breakfast. Auto-cross. Car show. Vendor area. Photo shoot. Main dinner. If we could pull off the Hurst Castle, that would be awesome.
Sun. - Breakfast. Tech session. Twisty tour options. Lunch. Awards.

There is a lot to pack into the main day Saturday. If we make the car show 'people choice' it can be a event long contest. (The entire classic is one big car display.) We need to be sure that there is some 'quality time' for the vendors/sponsors. Would the tech session fit better on Sundays schedule?

I like starting the thing a bit earlier also. Keep it low key at the beginning, some casual stuff like tours & bs sessions (standing around drinking a beer chatting) and stuff of that sort.

Here are some of my thoughts:

I want the AutoX and car show to be on the same piece of concrete. I dont know how.. or where yet.. but The autoX's are typically poorly attended... and if we force the show car guy's to park in the same lot that we use for the "pits"... then the car show people HAVE to watch the AutoX... and the vendors will be there...

Does that sound good/bad ??

I agree. Baaaaa No really, I was at a import show a few years back. There was an autox, and a swap meet held there at the same time. Big turn out.

Brad, you may need to find someplace other than Paso airport for the AX if you want the show and vendors there, too. It was a really small area we had for the PCA AX. They kept us pretty cooped up.

is the fairgrounds lot paved? didn't look like it to me.

Is that Cayucos? The parking lot there is very small.

The fairgrounds lot is not paved. I'm trying to think if there's anywhere on the actual grounds there that would be appropriate.

If I get the chance I will get up there this weekend and take a look around. I'll take the camera with me.

Are we looking in the right place? Didnt the 356 club hold an event in the area...where do they hold it?

The problem I see is getting everything done in the same place at the same time. There are lots of places to put on a car show, but very few place to put on an AX, and theplaces to do the AX aren't big enough for the show & vendors.

Rich, I didn't leave the house yesterday because of all the shopping hoopla...I can't stand to deal with that kind of traffic.

But as soon as my houseguest leaves today, I'll be out and about. I've got the camera battery all charged up and ready to go!

I had a thought on a site for the combined AX, Carshow, and vendor space. Is there a collage, Public School, or Major Office building with a big parking lot we could rent for a Saturday? The local Hotrod Club here rents the Vocational Collage lot for a big car show, swap meet, and craft show. They open the school for wash room facilities. The lots are big and the schools areusually closed on the weekends.
