This one mounts in the stock locations. The only modification is a hole has to be drilled in the floor, in front of the drivers' seat for the submarine belt. Shoulder harness go around the bar & the par bolts tho where your upper seat belt pivots are now. Lap belt bolt into stock holes as well. I have no idea who makes the bar & the belts are obviously Simpsons. I actuall sold this to someone here on the board... they're from Texas & can ring in anytime.

Thanks JB. I am not looking for something so race oriented. I had my retractor break and before I replace it I was looking to see what other harness options are out there. The bar type won't work because I am a tall guy and need to push my seat all the way back.

There is this thing you can add to a factory belt that cinches it down like a harness.

I mean if your belts broken, you still need a new belt. But if you want some more restraint out of your new belt this might help.

Look at http://www.peparts.com -- they should be able to sell you a rebuilt seat belt mechanism.

Thanks Dave. It looks like the rebuilds are a bit steep in price. I'd rather spend the extra money and get a harness. Anybody got any other ideas? Anything that doesn't use a harness bar?

I maybe a bit confused on what you are looking for. But if you just need new seat belts and don't want to pay for rebuilt 914 units, get a pair of either 944 or 924 units, they bolt on and are cheap.

I got a pair on ebay for $20.

The only ones that don't use a harness bar attach to holes drilled through the firewall. And they attach too low for most of us--they will cause spinal compression in an accident if they don't go back from your shoulders at close to a 90 degree angle! Very Bad News, that.

Drop the dime (OK, 2000 dimes) and get the replacement stock belt.
