Does anyone have an expanded diagram of the seat mounting and tracks for a '74.

My latest acquisition has had all the handles removed/an or broken off.

It would be nice to figure out how to remove these without a sawzall....

I don't quite get at you question. Even if the handle in the front is broken, the seat still comes out. Pull up on what remains of the handle and slide the sear forward to the stop. On the other side, press up on the flat spring that acts as a stop and slide the seat forward out of the seat rails. That or a sawzall will work.

You can simply unbolt the rails from the hinges with the 6mm bolts (2 per hinge, 4 per seat).

Hint: 6mm bolts use a 10mm socket or wrench.

Not just broken...MIA...I cant find any adjusters or levers other than a "tilt" lever under the outboard side of the drivers seat...No "remains" of a hanldle...No springs...no levers...nada....I'm sot sure I can get to the bolts without sliding the seat in one direction or the other....

That's why I'd thought to ask for an exploded parts diagram as this doesn't make sense! I don't know what the PO has done, but I believe it is better to do a little homework before I get out the sawzall....
Anybody have a PET disk and a printer?

The release parts are on the seat itself. They are there otherwise the seat would come off. The pictures show both sides. One side has the long lever that should have a handle on it. They commonly break off. Mine is a plastic replacement. Press up in the lever that is left and slide the seat forward all the way. The other side has the spring that is a stop. You must press up on it to get past the stop. If it is too difficult, allow the seat to slide bask a touch and try again. worse comes to worse, cut small hole in the seat bottom where the hinge is located and remove the bolts. Really LAST Resort. Your seat will come out.

Cool to show the seat rail removal help like that. Sure beats those diagrams I have seen.

Wonder if anyone has ease of illustration for the fuel and vacuumm hose on a 72 1.7 and provides the size and length of the hose.

Back on subject. What makes them break to begin with?

Sorry, that is wrong! Do not cut the seat. After looking again, the bolts will not be accessible.

If the seat is all the way back and stuck, you can reach the bolts that hold the seat to the "tilting" hinge with a 10 mm wrench, using finger feel and or a mirror. It will be a Rpita as you can only turn them about one flat at a time, but you can get at them. Have a lot of patience because it will take a long time. I recall having to do that one time about 25 years ago on the passenger seat. It was stuck and would not move forward. However you should be able to pry up the for and aft bar even with the handle broken off and move the seat forward. It moves easier if you are setting in the seat, pry up on the bar and pull forward by levering the seat forward with your butt, while holding onto the steering wheel or the windshield frame. The for and aft adjusting lever is on the right side of the left seat and the left side of the right seat, as shown in Mark,s picture above. His picture is of a passenger "right" seat viewed from the bottom.
