I need new tires, and I want to know if anyone has 195/65R15 on their 914 and do they rub at all ?

I have 195/55/15 on my 914 with no rubbing. Your tire would be a bit taller with the same width. Also had 205/50/15 with no rubbing.

A 5.5" rim is the minimum spec width for a 195/65R15. (7" is maximum rim width and 6" is optimum), so while rubbing is not an issue, a 205/50R15 tire is too wide for 5.5" rim.

I ran 195/65 R15 on mine for 2 years with no problem. When I added flares and a 5-lug conversion, I put the same tires on 15x7 Fuchs, with spacers. This is temporary, but it saved me some bucks the summer of the conversion, and I can go wider next time.

I had no complaints with the 195/65 on my 15x5.5 wheels.

I run 195/60s' on the 4, stock Mahle rims (15x5.5) & have no rubbing or turning issues. Tire calculator here on 914World says they're too small but I was afraid 65s' would rub in the back. Biggest tire I ever saw on a stock rim was a 205 & it was pushing it... back sidewalls were scuffed up from hitting the arch lip inside the wheel well. cool_shades.gif

195/65 is best modern size and will not rub using stock 5.5 wheels. I like them because you get 30mm more width with almost the exact diameter of the stock 165. Therefore your gear ratios/speedometer are unaffected.

edit: you might get a little inside rubbing in the front on full lock. Not a serious problem in my experience.
