From what I gather, this isn't an uncommon issue (for those that even have a headliner). Anybody have a suggestion on how to re-affix it w/o completely removing it (and replacing, if it isn't salvagable during the removal)?

I dont know, but im about three months from finding out.
That wurth adhesive really let me down more than once.
I think im going to roll on some uber contact adhesive next time.
Does wonders for my door panels

Sounds like another project... Everyone recommend some type of Contact cement or alternatively one of the spray-on adhesives like 3M or Wurth?

Anything in a paint can
I used those disposable rollers to apply the contact cement (contact adhesive)
worked well, melted the disposable paint roller tray after 3 hours.

3M spray adhesive works well for all tasks like that.

3m super 90 spray. get it at home store....
