My 74 2.0 was an a/c car I guess. It has the 2 cutouts in the front trunk say 4" x 20" (just an estimate). I have one big replacement piece from another car. So is it better/easier to just make the 2 cutouts one big one & then weld in the new piece? Or just replace the 2 smaller pieces? I have pic below. What did you do? Thanks- Jamie

It would be less welding if you go with one piece. That's what I would do.

I think I would cut out the whole piece and put a new one in if you have a good replacement. I think that would make the repair look cleaner since the welds would only be along the outside seams of the pan.

Just cut the whole thing ou and weld something better in.

Yes that makes sense. I don't think my replacement piece is big enough to reach the seams. I'll just try to keep it as straight & clean as possible. As long as it keep the close to stock look I'll be ok. Although my car overall is nice Concours it is not. As usual thanks for the help!
