i'd be interested in this, but i'd like to hear from some of the experts about whether this type of battery would be adequate for cars with newer headlights and fog lights, not to mention radios, etc.

I think the 680 is for racing apps only
I run the 925 in my 911 with no problems, it is still much lighter than even the optima.

West coast batteries have similar if not better prices

The "P680" is not listed from the first link...too bad, it is the lightest. Black plastic instead of red metal jacket.
Great way to loose 15+ lbs for a AX or racer, not really advised to run lights+radio+amp+FI with such a small battery. I drained my Optima recently and it never really recovered, but it has a 3 year full replacement warranty standard and Sears handed me a new one this morning....bad timing for a switch to the Odyssey beerchug.gif

Not the expert, but I bought a 680 this winter for my auto-x car.
It is is a trailer queen with a (higher compression motor?) vw 1.8T engine.
I could go outside in the freezing weather at any time and there was enough juice to start the engine. BUT with each time to turn the key , the cranking speed was noticably dropping off. I [i]think that your headlights and such would be ok as long as your alternator was keeping up with the draw. But it may not be enough reserve power to start a cranky hot aircooled engine....
