How many cars have you had vs years of driving?

Example:

I'm 37. I have been driving 21 years.

With my latest aquisition I have had 28 cars.

Therefore my ratio of cars to years is 1.33 cars per year.

What's your ratio? blink.gif

I think I must be missing a few drivers, but, 24 cars, 26 years= .092 cars per year.

That was a pretty fun trip down memory lane. driving.gif beerchug.gif

I'm 31, and have been driving 15 years. I have owned 3 cars - 2 of which I have driven. My 914 I only pushed, or steered while someone else pushed. I also did not own a car till I was 21. I did not need one in college.

If you count my wife's cars as "mine" then 5.

No way I am gonna remember them all... blink.gif

If I had to guess, I'd say about 3-4 a year average, and I'm 31, so 60ish cars is a good guess. If I include all my "company" cars while I worked at my fathers dealership, triple that figure.

33 years old, been driving for 18 years, owned 7 cars, for a ratio of 0.39 -- but then I am a car keeper.

Now, if you add in all of the "company" car's I've driven over the years, then the ratio gets pretty goofy, but I'd estimate it at something like 750-1250 cars in the past 12 years + the 7 I've owned for a ratio of 42.05-69.83. blink.gif

Maybe this is why I like to hold on to my own cars... they feel like "home." biggrin.gif

I've been driving for 11 years, (I got my license when I was 18 because until that time I had no desire to drive). In that time I have owned:

1985 Toyota Pickup - still have it
1973 914 - met the wrath of my sawzall, since been recycled into who knows what
1970 914 current car

So thats a ratio of 0.27 cars per year.

(wife's cars don't count).

I'm 43, been driving for 25 years. Only ever owned 3 cars
and I still own 2 of them.

First car was a 77 Toyota Corolla.
Bought my 74 914 back in 1984 and still have it.
Still have my 1990 eagle Talon AWD that I bought brand new.

I'm twenty and I've owned...

1982 Mustang 5.0
1979 Porsche 911t
1958 356 C
1975 914-4

EDIT: AND a pontiac Fiero 1986!! Holy cow.

EDIT: And a quick stint with a PS1800. Sweet car... Long story. (don't worry though, it's still gorgeous.)

I've been on the street since 17.

That's 3/5

Is this a good ratio so far? Because I'm looking at getting a Brat and a Bradley GTII. If anyone knows where to get these, pm me, please.

3 vehicles so far and I turned 17 in February.

65 years old, driving 49+ years, have owned 144 and probably a couple more that I have forgotten. That is 2.94 per year. If Ferg keeps up the good work he should surpass me!

Edit: Just looked at my list. Of the 144, 55 were Porsches of which 24 were 914's.

OK, my turn. Been driving 44 years. In order:
1960 4-door Dodge Dart - beer wagon.
1965 Dodge Dart GT - 273 CID - highly modified & dyno'd at 313 HP. 4 mpg
1965 Beetle - guess why? Even with gas at 30 cents for hypo.
1970 Chevelle 350 - triple black (wish I'd kept it)
1972 914 1.7 - Beetle went bye-bye (became a dune buggy) (Kept it)
1976 Rabbitt - fun while it lasted, until I t-boned a Buick Electra.
1977 Scirocco - shoulda kept it - fun car
1970 911E - hydro suspension - glad I sold it!
1976 924 - nuff said - solid car, but boring.
1986 GTI - probably the best I've ever owned. Autocross bastard!
1988 Audi 90 - another one I should have kept - 15 years of total joy!
1973 911T CIS - slick! Still own, but need to get rid of. Need another 914.
1997 Passat VR6 - the car from hell - unfortunately, still have. Money bucket.
Finally - 2003 Mercury Sable! That's right - a Ford. About as boring as a Toyota, but it's never caused a problem. Work car - starts, goes, needs virtually nothing & has the best stereo system I've ever had in a car. Yeah, it's a Ford. Who'd a thunk it?

So, if my calc's are correct, that's 0.3182 cars per year - not big stat's. However, I've owned my 914 for 35 years, my 911 for 17 years, the stupid, money pit VW for 10 (which is an absolute joy to drive - when it works. Hmm, sorta like a Ferrari).

What will the next one be? Something boring to get rid of the Passat - anyone want it for $1500 (all options)?
