I am in the process of gathering core parts for a 2060 build up of my 1.8 engine. I have sourced 2.0 lt rods and a crank but they are out of the block already. How do I determine if I am buying the actual rods and crank that I need? I'm quessing the rod should measure 71 mm from the big end center to the little end center, but what about the crank? Any casting marks or measurements to indicate the differences between a 1.8 and a 2.0? Thanks for the help...daveyboy

No, the rods are NOT 71mm long.
Measure the center of one rod journal to the center of the rod journal on the other side of the crank instead.

Easy, 66 mm rods have a huge block of steel on the smallend of the rod, 71mm rods don't.
