jimkelly

My Bad side shift trans assembled and in the car

When connecting the shifter at the front select 3rd in the transmission and you should have the shifter where you want it for 3rd. (centered and back)

Tighten up the cinch bolt and then try to select gears. if you can't get into Reverse and 1st gate or 4-5 gate loosen the cinch bolt and rotate the shaft one spline at a time till you get it.

Ok center and back is third Thanks which direction to rotate spline?
Aaron Cox
paul... put the tranny in...

at the tranny, it has that little ball pivot thing.
it goes in and out of the trans, and goes forward and back.

put it in third MANUALLY at the trans, by doing this.
with the selector Halfway into the tranny (slides in and out) puts you in the 2-3 gate.
now third is forward and second is backwards. so push the selector toward the front of the car. you have now put your trans in third gear.

now go loosen the splined connection at the front shifter (without taking the trans out of gear)... loosen it, and let the spirngs center it in its gate, then push the selector forward to where third gear would be, tighten it up and you should be close to perfect smile.gif

Gotcha foward is third can you feel where middle is with the pivot on the trans?
Aaron Cox
yep... it will be pretty obvious.

halfway in, vs all the way in or all the way out.

fyi: with just the side shifter plate in place you should be able to select all 6 gears by hand.

Push the rod vertically up, then frwd (1st) & back (rev)
Pull the rod vertically down, then frwd (5th) & back (4th)

example pic shows rod up & frwd, so should be 1st gear.

Gotcha Thanks for the Pic Trev thumb3d.gif
