Well, this one is claimed to have 6,000 (+/-) miles, and was given to Mark D. as a prize for winning the 16th LA Grand Prix...

AND, it might be for sale...

i believe i saw that car at G & W Motorsports when they were in Waynesboro, VA. G & W may have moved to the area around VIR in southern VA, Danville area.

Yep, G & W is still in Virginia; not sure where tho.

Actually, I am interested in the earlier history of the car, from when it was sold by Mark D., to the G & W purchase???

Saw it first on GT Performance Web Site... went to the G&W web site...
Saw it listed for sale as $45K...
Spoke with Mr Crogham's wife; very nice lady... said the car may be sold to some big fan of Mark D's from the old racing days...

But Money talks... who knows!

Note the rather rare original Corduroy Seats... I had the same in my '73 2.0, which according to the Certificate Of Authenticity, was a Euro delivery car. Maybe Corduroy was more pop. in RoW cars?Click to view attachment

While nice and all, with only 6,000 mi, I would have expected it to be MINT.

I noticed:

Temp gauge in dash AND center console?
After-market shift knob (i like it and have one in my car, but not stock)
What is sitting on the passenger seat?

Green knob on battery clamp?

I know, I'm nit-picking...

John, you have a sharp eye! I noticed the AM shifter knob. The Green knob on the battery is a Quick Disconnect; just an "add on" to keep the battery from draining. I didn't notice the temp gauge in the dash; are you sure thats not the standard Brake Light? I can't tell from the photo. The stuff on the passenger seat is supposedly a book of documents on the history of the car...
The colors on the original vacuum hoses still look pretty bright, so I'm guessing that the miles are truly low, or someone went to a lot of trouble to update them...

I surprised that with the years of 914 knowledge here, no one knows this car, or maybe even owned it at one point???

Yup, it is a temp gauge (see attached blow-up)

It looks like a very early 1974 (early gauges, and no chrome strips on the dash.)

EDIT: The chrome strip on the dash looks to be black in that blow-up.......


The hoses in the engine compartment do not match each other. The new looking ones should be as faded as the old looking ones. Red pigment just does not seem to age well.

It's a nice looking car, but I expected more of a time machine.

Our 1974 came stock with dual temp gauges, one in the dash and one in the console. It also has the same shift knob as Alan Johnson Porsche in San Diego used to put them on all their cars when sold, free, as it looked much better than the stock shifter.

Did both actually function? When I briefly had both hooked up, each would show about 1/2 the reading they would if only one was hooked up.
