Anybody ever ran plastic parts through the dishwasher?
Things like dash vents, fresh air cowl screens, fresh air box, etc...

Can't imagine it could be a problem. What are you worried about? The water being too hot? Water might be at 150-175F. Those plastics regularly get that hot when the car is parked in the sun on a hot day.

That's like telling me to set the time on the vcr.
I see what you're saying. I'll (believe it or not) ask the (insert shuddering smiley here) wife...

Well if you ask the wife, she will surely say NO! Like my sig says, it's easier to get forgiveness than it is to get permission.

Doesn't your dishwasher have an option for 'air dry' instead of 'heat dry'???

I have used the DW to do parts once in college,
I could never get the smell of motor oil out.
It was still there when I graduated and moved out.
The car ran great and the DW did a great job

I think putting your parts in a dish washer is a little disasociative in nature. Why don't ya just get a couple of brushes and jump in the shower with them. Okay here we go, add the wify in the mix and have a menage a troi

I've used the dishwasher to clean the interior air vents and the fog light grills worked fine.

use the pot scrub setting. turn off the heated water and auto dry features if you can. i'd worry about the plastic items warping. if you're doing it on the sly, run the dw on heavy duty, hot cycles when empty to distroy the evidence. you'll get busted for sure if you don't. check the interior filter of the dw for nasty trash too.
