was changing oil in my wifes new Toyota Sienna Van.
The engineers put a drip pan under the filter so when you take the filter off the dribble hits the pan, goes into a funnel and can then go into a small butter dish...
No mess.
Wow.

we have nissan xterra's, frontier, titan and a maxima. (01,01,06, and 01 respectively)
when doing the filters on the frontier/xterra/maxima, oil drips onto the sway bar below.
my dad's titan has that little drip tray too! keeps it off the swaybar... and makes it a no mess job!

My chevy has a drip gutter for the filter. Sounds like they copied it.

Isn't this kind of an OT topic, that belongs in the OT aisle?

My Tacoma is the same. I like changing the oil in my pickup. Pop the hood and the oil filter is right there. Lots of ground clearance so lift or jackstands required. I usually just mop up the oil out of the filter cuff with some paper towel. I can't even do it slow enough to finish a whole beer.
