I'm getting more and more interested in painting. I never knew it took such patience and finesse.
Is there a running bet on which color it will be?

Who did you end up using as your painter?
When did you ditch the 4 lugs in favor for the fuchs?

My next door neighbor is the painter and a friend of his owns a body shop and let us use their booth.
The 5 lug conversion went on last summer.

Can you tell me what prep you did on the roof? Was it painted before?
Thanks,

Great job Allen, nice to see the doors matching again
Are you going to have him spray the engine & driver's compartment? If you do, try to get them him to spray a sound deadener on both sides of the firewall first. It doesn't make it sound proof but mine is very close to the same level I had before with the stock padding on both sides. Just a thought...

Steve Willie aka-sww914 did the prep work. I believe that it was just a matter of sanding the top smooth, a skim coat of filler and block sanding til straight.

I anded the top down with 80 grit on a DA until I was just barely getting to the gelcoat, then I skimmed some Evercoat Easysand putty over the low spots.
After I had the big dips filled, I blocked it with 150, primed, blocked with 150 again and re-primed.

Finally got around to getting some things done this weekend. Managed to get all the glass back in. All new cockpit seals except the horizontal targa to window seals (PITA, gotta wait for my son to help). Went back to stock mirrors and polished out all the trim pieces except the windshield. Went with the rubber seal.
First wash.

Dam fine car allen. You've really made that car into a hell of a desireable six. I would be very proud to drive that one. If you can't tell i'm a little jealous. enjoy that car.

My thoughts exactly! It's really come a long way in the last year or so to become a damn fine car.
