Space Saver 15” on Fuchs
Tire man says no can do
I have seen pictures of Aarons and the nice Blue 916 up in San Fran. With these. Anyway I am building a bracket to mount my 15” Fuchs to the gas tank wall and before I get the wheel finished I was going to get the Space Saver mounted. The restoration shop took it over to their tire people and the tire shop said they couldn’t do it.
Is there a trick to it? I do not want to get my wheel finished just to have it goofed up.
The Space save steel wheel is the same size as the Fuch. 15 x6 I got it from a Porsche wrecking yard.

Go to a little mexican tire shop in your area....
Nobody told them it can't be done... Therefore they do it.....
It's a bitch to giterdone. And yes they do fit....

The factory did it. The tire shop did not want to mess with it.

Never say never. I got it. Nice blue Eric. I will mount it frontward so you can see the polished paddles, not backwards like the 916

Slits mounted a tire? Was there lanolin involved?

Yes, it can be done the trick is to inflate the original spare and let it sit inflated for a while, then when you let the air out of it and it will stay full size so you can dismount it from the steel wheel and mount it it the Fuch.
Then with a dead hammer hit it evenly to get it to colaspe again.

Click to view attachmentWhen I went to the Mexican wrench, he said he had a Mexican tire man in East LA but with this trick the local man may do it now.
Thanks,
Bob
