What's the purpose?
Why not fron plates?

Plates front and rear to help keep debris and water out of the calipers.

Plates with sticky tires and a grid with rocks will get rocks caught inbetween plate and rotors.

What do you mean? All the cars came with front plates. Do you mean why do people run without them? The factory actually recommends the possibility of running without them under some conditions (racing).
