Im going to look at a cheap 74. they say that it is "good condition".
is there anything i should look for besides rust and hackjob repairs?

they say they priced it cheap because it doesnt have a title.

yea, try to find the other reason that they refer to it as "cheap"... --JON

That alone seems like a huge red flag to me. At the very least I
would get the VIN and check it with the DMV to verify the seller is
the owner of record. If not, you'll probably have significant
problems yourself getting a title for the car. If the person you are
buying it from is actually the owner of record they should be able to
get a replacement title for the car. Of course, YMMV on a
state-by-state basis.

they say that they bought some property and the car was on the property. Ive looked into the title issue some. For $2 i can get a list of all owners of the car.

plus look for the stamping on the car to make sure it wasn't retagged. I bought one that was and the ass wouldn't give me my money back when we caught it.

There was an article in the SF Chron last week where a guy who got his 50ish T-bird stolen, got it back in cherry condition after a lady in SoCal bought it off of eBay and tried to register it. It was in Ohio. There was no connection to it being stolen until it came back to CA.

Be cautious or skeptical, or don't pay until its clear titled to you (hold back the funds).

Ive called the bmv and they told me that i can get it titled to me. BUt i basically have to jusp through hoops and finaly get a court order saying im am the new owner and can title it.
The lady said it wouldnt cost me anything. but im not going to beleiv that till I talk to them in person.

plus im not going to go for anything till i see the car.
